Jeg er av den typen som trives best alene (2020)

Shown at Fotografiens Hus, Oslo, Norway

Jeg er av den typen som trives best alene is a personal project that seeks to create a dialogue between two generations. The project began when I discovered a box of my father's old negatives and realized that I had, unconsciously, mirrored his work, more than 30 years after he stopped photographing.

Half of the photographs were taken between 2017 and 2019, while the other half were taken between 1970 and 1976.

The images explore the beauty of the everyday. They move between quiet observation, a sense of timelessness, and moments that are brutally honest and confrontational. The project aims to disorient the viewer, encouraging reflection on the nature of time. The fact that it is not immediately clear who captured which images and that both bodies of work appear to share the same visual aesthetic, creates a subtle uncertainty between what was and what is. This ambiguity fosters a conversation between our individual gaze, between past and present and between two generations that may not be as different as we are often led to believe.
